Next generation officers elected at Dallas News Guild

The Dallas News Guild elected five members to serve in key leadership roles, including three new at-large positions. 

In an uncontested election, the Guild appointed a new president and secretary to the Unit Council to lead alongside the current vice president and treasurer. 

These leaders are entrusted with supporting union workers and diligently enforcing the recently ratified contract with Dallas NewsCorp.

President 

Maggie Prosser has worked at the paper for nearly two years. She’s a beat reporter, covering public safety and Dallas County criminal courts. 

Maggie is at the helm, ensuring the union upholds its democratic principles and obligations. 

Vice President

Josephine Peterson has been at the paper for a year covering Dallas County, its jail and juvenile systems.

As vice president, she focuses on onboarding new members and keeping members informed and engaged through the union’s stewards.

Treasurer 

Sue Ambrose has been a reporter at the paper since 1995. She is a member of the paper’s investigative team.

As treasurer, she ensures the dues-paying process runs smoothly.

Secretary

Zaira Perez has worked at the paper since 2022. As a member of the audience team, she helps keep The Dallas Morning News homepage looking fresh, and works on social promotion plans for big projects

As secretary, she makes sure members are up to date on the latest information.

At-Large Members 

Jennifer Brancato has worked at the paper since April 2022 as a digital archivist, preserving more than 130 years of North Texas history

María Ramos Pacheco started at the paper in 2021. She reports on local government, and previously covered the Spanish-speaking communities of Dallas for Al Día.

Michael Williams is a reporter on the breaking news team at The Morning News. He previously worked in California, New York and Florida. 

As at-large members, they work to make sure members are informed and involved in union activities.
